PROJECT OVERVIEW

This expansion and renovation project was a $14.6M, 64,772SF addition to the Gallagher Gymnasium to support the athletic programs at St. John’s College High School.  Final use consisted of locker rooms, shower rooms, Student lounge, lecture rooms, sports medicine and hydrotherapy rooms, training and weight facilities, as well as coaches’ offices and conferencing space.  The project required an existing single-story masonry building to be razed with major site improvements and support of excavation required to maintain the existing adjacent athletic field as well as the lower level of the new construction.  New construction consisted of a cast-in-place, structural steel and masonry structure finished with 2-story curtainwall, storefront, brick veneer and precast accents.  The interior included a Monumental Stair, hydraulic elevator with 2-story back painted glass feature, poured in place terrazzo throughout, and 9Wood ceiling assemblies.  All new utilities were provided to support the expansion space and were required to interface into the existing building components.
