Sustainable practices are embedded in Donohoe Hospitality’s DNA. More than just good marketing, sustainability is good business. Our hotels employ smart choices that respect our environment and provide sustainable measures that further Donohoe Hospitality’s long-term goals to improve energy efficiency, reduce waste and be a responsible community partner.
Our programs include:
- Recycling of cardboard, newspaper, plastics and aluminum
- Compact fluorescent (CFL) and LED lighting in guest rooms
- Energy Star appliances and equipment
- Linen/towel re-use programs
- Motion thermostat sensors in guestrooms
- Water saver plumbing fixtures
Additional initiatives at hotels include:
- Wind farm power
- Rain barrel water for landscape irrigation
- Green e-certified renewable electricity (Residence Inn Capitol) and purchase of 30% renewable energy credits (Residence Inn Arlington Courthouse)
- Green roofs (Residence Inn Arlington Courthouse and Holiday Inn Capitol)
- Biodegradable to-go food serve ware (Holiday Inn Capitol)
- Non-toxic electrolyzed water cleaning system (Residence Inn Arlington Courthouse, Hilton Garden Inn Bethesda)
