Project Overview
This project consists of two additions to an existing academic building at the Georgetown Visitation Preparatory School (GVPS). Both additions had ongoing construction throughout the school year and DCC had to accommodate the school’s need to have the adjacent buildings operational. The Berchmans Hall addition is a two-story, eight classroom 11,350 SF addition, featuring art and science classrooms with a two story elevator. The exterior envelope includes a combination brick facade and curtainwall system, and the roof features solar photovoltaic panels along with mechanical units and rood screens to provide cover for new mechanical units.
The Saints Connector addition is a two-story, 2,900 SF addition that links up two existing buildings, St. Joseph Hall & St. Bernard Library. The connector features a dirty lab, maker space, and common spaces for both student and general school use. The exterior envelope includes a curtainwall system with storefronts and the roof features extensive green roof space. Both additions included new exterior stairs and handicap accessible ramps with storm water upgrades.
