our story

Donohoe Commercial Real Estate was established in 1884 as John F. Donohoe Real Estate, a residential real estate firm serving Capitol Hill. With the creation of Donohoe Construction Company in 1955, we began to offer commercial services to our growing list of satisfied clients. We became Donohoe Real Estate Services in 1990, a reflection of our expansion into additional lines of business and increased third party work; we became Donohoe Commercial Real Estate in 2023. Through the years, Donohoe Commercial Real Estate evolved into a full service commercial real estate enterprise serving the entire Washington and Baltimore Metro markets. Now more than a century later, we provide a full array of commercial real estate services to businesses, owners, and tenants with experience, integrity, and market knowledge.

SUSTAINABILITY

Our property management group seeks opportunities to utilize third-party vendors whose protocols and standards match or exceed jurisdictional requirements and generally promote sustainability and green measures.  Where appropriate and cost-effective, we promote energy-efficient best practices in cleaning, HVAC maintenance, and other property operations, and we promote and guide building owners to take properties through LEED certification.

We believe recycling is good business that allows businesses to reduce their footprint. We employ recycling and composting programs at almost all of the properties under our management to reduce waste.

Our project management group advocates building ownership to utilize best practices with regard to sourcing sustainable and energy-efficient materials, such as LED lighting and labor.
