The Wharf, 700 Constitution Win at AIA Awards

Donohoe Construction projects, 700 Constitution and Hyatt House and Canopy by Hilton, The Wharf won Awards of Merit at the AIA Northern Virginia Design Awards on Thursday, June 14.
According to the AIA Northern Virginia website, “The Design Awards program honors and celebrates its members’ commitment to design excellence in various practice groups. As the premier event of the Chapter’s year, the awards program demonstrates, to clients and the public, the availability of local award-winning firms and individuals dedicated to providing outstanding architectural design and execution.”
700 Constitution, a multifamily renovation completed by Donohoe Construction’s Specialty Division, won in the Historic Renovation category. Designed by Architecture, Incorporated, the once abandoned hospital built in the 1920s was transformed into 139 new apartments in Washington DC’s Capitol Hill neighborhood. The building was developed by Urban Structures and Borger Management and features an outdoor courtyard and rooftop terrace.
The Hyatt House and Canopy by Hilton hotels were recognized in the Commercial category. Developed by Hoffman-Madison Waterfront, the 300,000 square foot, dual-branded hotel has over 400 keys. SmithGroup JJR designed the curtain wall building with outdoor terraces, an outdoor pool, and a rooftop bar with Washington Channel views.
