Rehabilitation Work Begins at Flower Theater
October 23, 2023
Construction renovations are underway at the former Flower Theater in the Long Branch Neighborhood of Silver Spring.
The main scope of work for the rehabilitation of the historically protected Flower Theater façade includes reconstructing the neon “Flower” sign on the parapet of the theater and relighting the marquee, along with restoring the ticket booth and performing additional refreshes and repairs to the property. The project will take approximately nine weeks to complete and will be celebrated with a ribbon cutting to reveal the completed renovations.
MHP, a nonprofit affordable housing developer and community development organization based in Montgomery County, is undertaking this historic project, while Donohoe Construction Company is the general contractor. Both MHP and Donohoe are working with the Discover Long Branch community organization to make the project possible.
“Donohoe is excited for the opportunity to revitalize a historic part of Silver Spring’s Long Branch community,” said Hunter Gardner, Assistant Project Manager for Donohoe Construction’s Rapid Response division.
