On Saturday, February 3, Donohoe Construction celebrated the re-lighting of the Flower Theatre in the Long Branch neighborhood of Silver Spring, MD. After 30 years, the marquee sign was re-lit, marking the new future of the theatre.

The revitalization project was spearheaded by developer MHP, with Donohoe acting as the general contractor on the project. Renovations included the replacement of the neon “Flower” sign, restoration of the ticket booth, and other related façade repairs. The speakers at the ceremony discussed the significance of the Flower Theatre for residents of Long Branch since the 1950’s, when it originally opened. The Flower Theatre is also located along the Purple Line corridor, giving the project both historical and contemporary significance, touching on the past and future of the Long Branch neighborhood.
