Clifton Street Tops Out
May 16, 2018
The Donohoe Construction Clifton Street project in Columbia Heights celebrated its “Topping Out” on Tuesday, May 15th with a catered luncheon and speeches from team leads involved on the project. “The continued success of this project is a testament to everyone involved,” said Tom Frederick, Assistant Project Manager on Clifton Street.
The Clifton Street project involved the demolition of two apartment buildings that would become 1315 Clifton Street. The team decided to leave the south façade of one of the buildings, holding it up with steel bracing until the concrete slabs were poured. “The pre-existing façade is now connected to the new concrete structure with anchors that are connected to metal clip angles that are welded to plates embedded in concrete slabs,” Frederick added.
Designed by Cunningham Quill Architects for Aria Development Group, the six-story building will have 156 apartment units and one level of below grade parking. Amenities will include a penthouse level social room and fitness center.
The project is targeting substantial completion in spring 2019 with LEED Silver Certification.
