The newest mixed-use project in the Donohoe Construction portfolio, 555 E Street, celebrated a ground breaking ceremony on Monday, December 17. The ceremony was attended by DC Mayor, Muriel Bowser, and members of her staff including Deputy Mayor Brian T. Kenner, who participated in a concrete pour.

The development team is a joint venture led by CityPartners and Potomac Investment Properties. The team also includes DC Strategy Group, Paramount Development, and Adams Investment.

Designed by FxCollaborative Architects, 555 E Street will include a 252-key Citizen M Hotel, the first in DC. Citizen M is a Dutch boutique hotel brand known for luxury experiences at affordable prices. The second tower features 194 income-inclusive residential units, one third of which are reserved as low-income senior housing. Said Kenner, “It’s projects like this that help neighborhoods continue to grow.”

Located in Southwest DC, the new hotel and residential building will house the closest apartments and hotel rooms, respectively, to the Smithsonian Museums on the National Mall. The project also features ground level retail and two levels of below grade parking.
