As the President & CEO of Donohoe, Chris Bruch assumes the critical role of directing the company’s vision and mission. Leading Donohoe’s executive team, Chris is instrumental in developing and executing the company’s long-term strategic plans.
Since assuming the position of President & Chief Operating Officer from 2014 to 2017, Chris has guided Donohoe’s six operating divisions, managing a team of 1,800 employees, handling over $1 Billion in annual operating revenues, and overseeing $1.4 Billion in real estate venture holdings.
Chris’s journey with Donohoe commenced in 1988 as a Project Engineer in Donohoe Construction. Over the years, he has contributed his expertise to four of the six operating divisions. Following his tenure in Donohoe Construction, Chris spent four years with Donohoe Real Estate Services (now Donohoe Commercial Real Estate), followed by nine years with Donohoe Development. In 2006, Chris played a pivotal role in establishing Donohoe Hospitality Services and was subsequently appointed its President. His extensive experience across multiple divisions has given him a comprehensive understanding of the company’s operations.

Laurie Ballenger plays a vital role as Donohe’s Senior Vice President, Corporate General Counsel, and Secretary of the company’s board of directors. Her responsibilities encompass a wide range of activities, including real estate development, acquisition, joint ventures, financings, investments, construction, leasing, and management. With her expertise, Laurie is actively engaged in all phases of these endeavors across Donohoe’s six divisions.
Laurie has over 20 years of experience in commercial real estate law in both private practice and as a corporate executive. Laurie began her career in the District as an Associate in environmental law and land use at Beveridge & Diamond, PC. Laurie joined the real estate practice group at Shaw Pittman Potts & Trowbridge (now Pillsbury), where she primarily represented developers in the acquisition, financing, development, and disposition of office buildings, retail centers, hotels, multi-family properties, and undeveloped land. She subsequently served for nine years as Senior Vice President and General Counsel of The Artery Group, a privately-held commercial real estate company with a fifty-year history in the Washington, DC metropolitan area, where her responsibilities included oversight of litigation and risk management, financings, lease negotiations, the negotiation of purchase and sale and joint venture agreements, and serving on the Executive Committee for company management and strategic planning. Immediately prior to joining Donohoe, Laurie focused on commercial real estate development and transactions as a Principal at Bregman, Berbert, Schwartz & Gilday LLC.

As Senior Vice President & Chief Financial Officer, Eric Maggio is responsible for overseeing Donohoe’s financial and asset management operations, encompassing its six operating divisions, projects, and investments. He exercises supervision over accounting, taxation, information systems, and risk management services. Additionally, Eric maintains and manages relationships with lenders, banks, venture and financial partners, as well as investors.
Eric previously served as Chief Accounting Officer & Treasurer at Donohoe, responsible for internal and external financial analysis, oversight and reporting, budgeting, banking, and credit relationships, maintaining accounting policies and procedures, internal controls, and financial and tax compliance. Before joining Donohoe, Eric served as Senior Vice President & Chief Financial Officer of Cityline Partners LLC in Tysons Corner, where he was responsible for the financial affairs of Cityline’s real estate holdings and the management of its office portfolio. Eric began his career at Price Waterhouse and later joined West*Group Management LLC, where he spent 25 years as the Controller and later as Chief Financial Officer.

In the role of Chief Investment Officer, Bob Donohoe holds the responsibility of establishing and implementing Donohoe’s strategic investment plans. He oversees the acquisition, disposition, financing, and asset management activities for the company’s extensive $2 billion real estate investment portfolio.
As President of Donohoe Development Company, Bob Donohoe guides the division’s strategic direction and business development efforts while managing its development team and daily operations, including several major ongoing development projects.
Bob has served in various capacities at Donohoe, including project management, development, and capital markets. Before joining Donohoe in 2005, Bob gained valuable expertise during his tenure at Beacon Capital Partners in Boston. He played a crucial role in managing office property transactions worth $1 billion for their opportunity fund. Before that, Bob held positions at Transwestern Commercial Services in New York, providing portfolio advisory services to real estate companies. He also contributed his skills at Berkshire Mortgage Finance in Bethesda, where he successfully underwrote and closed approximately $750 million in commercial mortgages.
Butch Barry is President of Complete Buiding Services, providing strategic leadership and operational oversight for the company’s diverse service groups, including Facilities Management, Operations & Maintenance, Service Department, and Energy Management. With an impressive portfolio under his guidance, Butch oversees a dedicated team of 450 employees, 250 local clients, and 40M+ square feet of managed facilities spanning various sectors from commercial to government and from hotels to medical and research centers.
Butch joined Donohoe in 1986 as a Cost Accountant for Donohoe Construction while simultaneously pursuing a degree at the University of Maryland. With a strong foundation in finance and construction, he transitioned to construction operations, where he excelled as a Project Manager, overseeing numerous large-scale construction projects. In 1995, he joined a local CPA firm specializing in construction litigation support, expanding his expertise. The World Bank then appointed him as Project Financial Management Specialist, with the responsibility of managing the contract and construction close-out of the bank’s prestigious $314M headquarters project. Butch returned to Donohoe in 1988, assuming the role of Vice President of Operations for Complete Building Services. His remarkable leadership propelled him to become Executive Vice President, and then President in 2003.
As President of Donohoe Hospitality, Thomas Penny leads one of the largest independent hotel management companies in the DC area, representing over $500 million in hotel asset value. Thomas’ leadership responsibilities include strategic planning, consulting on the development and acquisition of properties, long-term financial and capital planning,.and overall operational direction for a diverse portfolio of 15 extended-stay, full-service, lifestyle, and focused-service hotels affiliated with renowned brands such as Marriott, Hilton, Hyatt, Choice Hotels, and InterContinental Hotels Group.
Thomas boasts a distinguished career as a hospitality professional, consistently achieving exceptional results in employee satisfaction, guest satisfaction, market share, and profitability. Since joining Donohoe in 1996, Thomas has enjoyed over 25 years with the company, actively contributing in both developmental and hands-on operational capacities. He has been deeply involved in various professional organizations and is a dedicated community advocate, showcasing his commitment to the growth and development of the hospitality sector.

As President of Donohoe Construction, Steve Crowder is responsible for guiding and overseeing all business operations conducted by the company’s construction division and its New Construction, Rapid Response, and Building Enhancements service groups. With a focus on excellence and efficiency, Steve monitors every phase of the construction process, ensuring operations align with both customer and company standards and objectives.
Steve brings an impressive background of over two decades in the construction industry, with over 15 years dedicated to Donohoe. Throughout his career journey within Donohoe Construction, Steve has held various key positions, including Project Engineer, Project Manager, Vice President of Operations, General Manager, and Senior Vice President. This diverse range of roles has provided him with a comprehensive understanding of the construction process from the ground up to high-level management.

Timothy Taylor serves as President of Borger Residential, leading Donohoe’s multifamily residential management division. In this key role, he provides strategic leadership and oversees the operations of over 100 multifamily properties across DC, Maryland, and Virginia.
With more than 30 years of experience in the multifamily real estate industry, Tim has been instrumental in shaping Borger’s residential management operations since he joined the company in 2000. Tim began his journey at Borger as the community manager for The Envoy apartments and was promoted to Vice President in 2009. He has held several pivotal positions, including Divisional Vice President, before stepping into his current role as President in 2024.
David Happ is President of Donohoe Commercial Real Estate, overseeing its commercial and GSA Brokerage, Property Management, Project Management, Capital Markets, Investment Sales, Property Accounting, and Lease Administration service groups. David focuses on the company’s continued growth initiatives, innovation, and strategic planning efforts to support over $1B in leasing volume, $500M in sales volume, and 11M square feet under management.
David has accumulated over 25 years of progressive expertise in commercial, industrial, residential, and retail property development. A trained asset manager, his professional focus lies in generating revenue and decreasing costs to maximize profits, as well as managing the acquisition, leasing, marketing, upscaling, renovation, and disposition of complicated trophy properties. He has experience working with a broad range of clients – including institutional owners, private and public equity, sovereign wealth funds, government entities, commercial banking institutions, and public insurance companies – to increase revenue through innovative strategy and disciplined execution.
Before joining Donohoe, David served as the President of Development and Executive Vice President of Leasing & Operations at Property Group Partners (formally The Louis Dreyfus Property Group), splitting time between the company’s offices in Washington DC, New York City, and Florida. During his tenure there, David was responsible for overseeing the acquisition, repositioning, construction, development, and disposition of key properties within the company’s portfolio, achieving a 99.6% occupancy rate across all owned and managed buildings.

Bert oversees DC, Maryland, and Virginia brokerage operations, as well as the Occupier Advisory services for Donohoe Commercial Real Estate. Bert joined Donohoe as a property manager in 1983. Over the past 40 years, he has represented a diverse group of landlords and tenants in hundreds of lease and investment transactions involving office, retail, and warehouse space. Bert has significant additional expertise with GSA, medical, and restaurant transactions. Bert has won the Commercial Real Estate Brokers Association (CREBA) Million Dollar Leasing Award on 20 occasions and is a life member.
Jad directly oversees all aspects of a portfolio of over $375,000,000 in future development. Jad is responsible for leading new development projects, public-private initiatives, and identifying new development opportunities, including residential, hotel, and mixed-use projects. An eighth-generation Washingtonian and a fifth-generation Donohoe employee, Jad has worked at Donohoe since 2006.

Mo oversees all of the company’s technology needs, utilizing his expertise in Oracle Enterprise Resource Planning systems (ERP), project management, IT controls and operations, and process re-engineering. He leads technical projects in alignment with organizational goals and directs the effective delivery of enterprise architecture, development, ERP systems, and small to large scale system implementations.
Mo began with the company in 1992 as a senior programmer/analyst working on various custom applications for the Complete Building Services and Donohoe Real Estate Services divisions, including JD Edwards applications, maintenance, and upgrades. He was promoted to programming director where he oversaw all software changes, upgrades, and enhancement for Oracle/JD Edwards software and custom applications for the company. Before being promoted to vice president, Mo served as the assistant vice president and I.T. director for the company where he was responsible for management, strategy, and execution of I.T. infrastructure for all divisions of Donohoe.

Deirdre joined Donohoe in 1992 in the human resources department after working several years in the hospitality and staffing industries. She was quickly promoted and has since led the human resources function for Donohoe’s five divisions. As the company’s headcount has increased, Deirdre successfully augmented employee satisfaction while purchasing and delivering HR services more efficiently. Her ability to align employee engagement with maximum bottom-line results has allowed Donohoe to develop and support a productive, diverse, and talented workforce.

Nick provides executive leadership over all aspects of Donohoe’s corporate accounting. He directs budgeting and internal control policies, manages relationships with company auditors, and oversees the payroll accounting and treasury functions.
Nick has been with Donohoe since 2007 when he started as a senior accountant for corporate accounting after working for three years in public accounting. In 2010, he took over the controller position with Complete Building Services, Donohoe’s facilities division. Nick rejoined Donohoe’s corporate accounting team as corporate controller in 2015. He has been integrally involved with several company initiatives, including an enterprise software upgrade, payables workflow upgrade, initiating payments automation, and payroll conversions.
Jennifer Sinclair is the Vice President of Risk Management at The Donohoe Companies, Inc. Jennifer is responsible for identifying and assessing liability and property risks to the company while developing forward-thinking strategies to mitigate these risks. Her expertise and relationships are crucial in managing the adequacy and cost-effectiveness of Donohoe’s insurance portfolio, ranging from Property to Liability to Workers’ Compensation to Cyber Liability protection.
Jennifer joined Donohoe in 2024, bringing an impressive track record and a wealth of experience in risk management advisory and insurance brokerage. With over two decades of professional practice, Jennifer has developed a remarkable ability to design, negotiate, and administer complex insurance programs, aligning with corporate risk management objectives and strategies.
Jennifer comes to Donohoe from AvalonBay Communities, Inc., where she supported the Risk Management Department as Director. In this role, her accomplishments include comprehensive insurance program design; the creation of two corporate-owned renters insurance programs; design, development, and deployment of the corporate Emergency Procedures Manual accessible via mobile app; the strategic use of offshore captive insurance companies to reduce total cost of risk; developing collaborative risk assessments on new and existing business initiatives; and enhancing safety programs across multiple departments.
Prior to her tenure at AvalonBay, Jennifer served as a Program Manager for The AES Corporation, managing the Global Property Captive insurance company and leading the U.S. casualty insurance program’s renewal strategy. Her earlier career was marked by a successful 14-year tenure at Marsh, LLC as a Vice President and Client Manager, where she crafted customized insurance solutions for a diverse domestic and multi-national client base, including those in the real estate, construction, and hospitality sectors.
Danielle Rice is Assistant Vice President of Human Resources of The Donohoe Companies where she uses her expertise and leadership skills to improve the entire employee life cycle for all business units: talent acquisition, engagement, development, performance, separation, company policy, and legal compliance. She has 25 years of experience positively impacting corporate performance through strategic planning, development, and execution of human resources programs and projects.
Danielle joined Donohoe as Director of Human Resources in 2018 and has been instrumental in formulating Donohoe’s pandemic-related policies and creating the company’s Women’s Leadership Initiative and the Inclusion & Diversity Committee. She is a trusted HR professional who has effectively developed processes and procedures to address critical workforce issues, align HR goals with vital organizational initiatives, and develop policies to address internal and legislative compliance matters. Prior to Donohoe, Danielle served as Director of Human Resources at Interstate Hotels and Manager of Human Resources at Marriott.
Brian Goldblatt handles tax planning and compliance, treasury management, and accounting systems implementation and maintenance for The Donohoe Companies. He has 20+ years of tax experience, specializing in real estate, private equity funds, and portfolio company investments.
Brian has advised multinational public, non-public, corporate, flow-through entities, and real estate investment trusts with federal, state, and international income tax matters including tax compliance services, ASC 740, tax planning, IRS and state audit support, corporate tax department operations, and foreign withholding. Prior to joining Donohoe, Brian was a Senior Director with Alvarez & Marsal Taxand, LLC in Washington, DC. He advised companies on federal and state income tax matters related to tax compliance, planning, provision, and financial reporting. Brian spent over six years with Ernst & Young in their Tysons Corner, Virginia office, where he served as a Senior Tax Manager. Previously, he ran the tax function of a private equity company based in Washington, DC for five years. He started his tax career at Arthur Andersen.

G. Thomas Borger brings a wealth of experience and expertise to his role of board member of The Donohoe Companies, where he advises the advancement of the Donohoe organization and its six operating divisions since 2023.
Tom held the position of CEO of Borger Management, Inc. from 1982 to 2022, overseeing a period of remarkable expansion for the company. Tom successfully acquired, repositioned, and financed a portfolio of approximately 2,000 rental apartment units. Under his leadership, the firm achieved outstanding growth in commercial and multifamily residential property management and leasing throughout the DC metropolitan area.
Tom is a highly influential figure in Washington, DC’s real estate sector, having served as the President of the Apartment and Office Building Association of Metropolitan Washington and the Washington DC Association of Realtors. His exceptional contributions led to him being named Realtor of the Year in 1987. He has also served as a Trustee of the Federal City Council, testified before the DC Council on crucial issues, and contributed to shaping the city’s future through Mayor-Elect Muriel Bowser’s Transition Committee and to special Mayoral committees to address D.C. housing issues.
Tom has also served the community in various capacities, including Trustee Chairman at St. Anselm’s Abby School, Chairman of the local chapter of The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, serving as Board Treasurer at St. Ann’s Infant and Maternity Home, and being an active member of the Bishop McNamara High School executive Corporate Partnership Committee.
Kevin Donohoe is an accomplished real estate and finance professional who has contributed to The Donohoe Companies’ growth and development as a board member since 2014.
Kevin Donohoe’s multi-faceted real estate career began with various roles within Donohoe from 1971 to 1976, including property management, commercial sales and leasing, and project financing. He then moved to the position of Vice President, Real Estate for the Fidelity Mutual Life Insurance Company, followed by his appointment as President and Chief Executive Officer of the American Metropolitan Development Corporation.
In 1983, Kevin established The Kevin F. Donohoe Company, Inc., an organization dedicated to the development and investment in upscale, premium office and retail properties. The company focused on creating exceptional office buildings and regional shopping malls across the Eastern United States. Mr. Donohoe sold the majority of his property portfolio in 2007 and early 2008 and retired in 2010.
Mr. Donohoe has demonstrated his leadership in service to several esteemed organizations. He is a former adjunct faculty member of the Wharton Graduate School, University of Pennsylvania, where he taught the real estate development course. He has held board leadership roles with several Philadelphia-area community organizations, including the Pennsylvania Academy of Arts, The Franklin Institute, The Free Library of Philadelphia, Lower Merion Police Pension Association, and Main Line YMCA.
Maurian Dubinsky joined The Donohoe Companies’ board in 2018, bringing a unique perspective as a former elementary school teacher and current small business owner with a background in education, human development, organizational leadership, and change management.
Early in her career, Maurian gained practical experience in advising companies on workplace culture and process efficiency initiatives during her tenure at the Corporate Executive Board. Her role involved providing valuable guidance to organizations in these areas, allowing her to develop a deep understanding of how to structure effective and inspiring work environments.
Having dedicated numerous years to apprenticing for MJ Designs, Maurian gained hands-on experience in completing home renovations and client design projects, laying a solid foundation for her career. Now a highly skilled professional, she operates Interiors by Mauri as a solo interior designer, offering specialized expertise in full-service design and e-Design. Her small business showcases her talent and passion for delivering tailored design solutions.
