The Draftsman Marriott Autograph Collection Hotel Opens in Charlottesville

Donohoe Hospitality Services Adds a Full-Service Property to its Management Portfolio

Donohoe Hospitality Services debuted The Draftsman Marriott Autograph Collection boutique hotel at 1106 West Main Street in downtown Charlottesville, Virginia. The hotel welcomed its first guest last week, just in time to accommodate visitors for neighboring University of Virginia’s graduation weekend. The property is the tenth in Donohoe Hospitality’s management portfolio, bringing approximately 70 full-time jobs to Charlottesville.

The newest addition to the 100+ hotels worldwide in the Autograph Collection, The Draftsman offers a one-of-a-kind travel experience, reflected in its modern, stately design, signature to Charlottesville. This unique Four Star+ hotel consists of 150 guestrooms and suites, penthouse fitness center, business center, 2,050 square feet of event space, and 3 levels of on-site parking. The hotel features a 4,000 square foot farm-to-table restaurant, Renewal, led by chef Joe Wolfson.

The Draftsman draws its inspiration from Charlottesville’s rich history, highlighting three prominent Virginians who are Founding Fathers and former Presidents of the United States. Each are draftsman of key documents in the formation of our country: Thomas Jefferson (The Declaration of Independence), James Madison (The Bill of Rights), and James Monroe (The Monroe Doctrine).

Carr Companies is the developer of the project and Donohoe Construction Company is the general contractor. The hotel is located just across the street from the University of Virginia main campus and adjacent to the University Medical Center.

A Grand Opening celebration will be held this summer. For more information, reservations or special events visit
